Alvin H Davis was born in May 1797, location unknown, but probably New York or Ohio. He married Lavinia Seeley in Cuyahoga County, Ohio on 10 Oct 1820. Lavinia was born in New York on October 16, 1795. She was a very young bride. I have no further information on parents for either of these people.

Alvin Davis, Sr was "killed by a canon" on 4 Nov 1836 in Bedford. Lavinia remarried on 17 Jan 1839 in Portage County, Ohio to a widower with several children, William Lappin. They had 2 children, Wesley Wilbert and John Urlehi. Around 1842 the family moved to Ada, Hardin County, Ohio. By 1843, William Lappin passed away, leaving Lavinia to raise the children by herself. Lavinia passed away on 11 Jan 1871 and is buried in the Candler Cemetery, near Ada, Ohio.
